Sag Harbor

The second annual Festa Al Camino will be held on December 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor. (Festa Al Camino means Feast by the Fireplace in Italian.) During a three-course, family-style dinner with wine, the focus of the evening will be building community, increasing awareness and raising money for those in need in our area.

Even in an area of tremendous affluence, there are several local families (many of whom are seasonal workers) who struggle to afford the basic necessities —particularly during the holidays.

The Sag Harbor Food Pantry currently supports around 75 families that reside within the Sag Harbor School District. Once winter comes, many of these same families have difficulty affording the high cost of heating their homes.

All proceeds generated from Festa Al Camino will continue funding a community-led initiative called Keep Sag Harbor Warm, which the Sag Harbor Food Pantry helps oversee.

The first sold-out dinner in February raised nearly $14,000. This December, between a combination of ticket sales, donations, and a silent and a live auction, organizers are hopeful they will surpass the prior fundraising amount.

Throughout the evening, a series of pre-selected speakers will educate attendees about local needs and how community members, looking to help, can best lend a hand. Donations of clean, gently used coats will be collected and passed along to those in need.

The fundraiser is again being organized by a group of local mothers. Gabby Karan De Felice, the owner of Tutto il Giorno, will donate 100 percent of all proceeds from the evening to Keep Sag Harbor Warm. Amanda Fairbanks, one of The SHED Workspace’s co-founders, is spearheading the effort, along with the help of Mia Ljungberg-Nevado and Monica Frisbie.

For tickets go to eventbrite.com and search for the event.

November 30 brings Woody Boley to the Wamponamon Masonic Music Series. The performance starts at 8 p.m. The Masonic Music Series is a singer-songwriter series featuring some of East End’s musicians performing in an intimate setting. The $20 admission supports local charities, including scholarships to Pierson graduates, food pantries, and other locals in need. The music series is produced by the Freemason Brothers of Wamponamon Lodge. The Masonic Temple is located at 200 Main Street, Sag Harbor above The Sag Harbor Whaling Museum with plenty of parking in the rear of the building.

Looking ahead, the Sag Harbor Community Band, along with the Long Island Sound Chorus of the Sweet Adelines, will perform at the Old Whalers’ Church on Saturday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. A mix of fun and holiday music is planned. Admission is free but a freewill offering will be taken. For more information, contact sagharborcommunityband@yahoo.com or

631-537-1468.

Bridgehampton

The Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons will host a holiday show and sale at the Bridgehampton Historical Society Archives, located at 2539 Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton. The sale will feature handmade pottery by local artisans. The sale is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through December 15. Look for details at hamptonsclayart.org.

WATER MILL

Throughout Thanksgiving weekend, the Parrish Art Museum will open a pop-up shop just inside the lobby, with brand new holiday items for the home, unique accessories, artful tabletop items, the debut of the Parrish Honey, and gift memberships to the museum. The pop-up shop, which will be set up in addition to the full Gift Shop at the museum, will be open November 29 through December 1, during regular gallery hours (available at parrishart.org). There is no admission fee for visitors to the shops.

While there (but for the cost of admission) check out “What We See, How We See,” a series of seven special exhibitions that juxtapose distinct image-making approaches by artists working in abstraction and figuration, from the late 19th century until today. According to a press release about the show, “Multi-generational and multi-faceted, these projects, taken together, offer a nuanced and compelling exploration about the very nature of seeing. Featuring 125 paintings, works on paper, and sculpture by Charles Bell, Perle Fine, Jeffrey Gibson, Alex Katz, and Richard Prince, among others, What We See, How We See creates conversations and contextualizes the artist’s vision of how they see and interpret the world.”

Contra dancing comes to the Water Mill Community House for its monthly swing through the hamlet on Saturday, December 7. Ted Crane will call the dances and the Long Island Traditional Music Association Orchestra will provide the music. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

For details, go to LITMA.org.
