Does anyone ever question all the turnover at the Amagansett School? As of March 2024, it was said over the last 21 years, the school has had five superintendents, two interim superintendents, and four principals. Every step of the way in this hearing of Principal Maria Dorr, the gym teacher Michael Rodgers is involved. Dorr would have been Rodgers “in house” competition. Oddly enough, a question Rodgers inquired about to the school district at a December 4, 2023, School Board meeting asked the district “If they were definitely set on using an outside firm because others surrounding schools have decided to do in house.”
By December 15, we have “Envelope Gate.”
This past week, two former Amagansett School students testified in the hearing of Dorr. One, Ben Dipietro stated that he was visited by Rodgers and Goodstadt. Personal visits? So much for an alleged independent investigation by Richard Loeschner.
The school that would make cuts to only four special education teachers to be “fiscally conservative” has been on a frenzy this summer of hiring, pay raises, reorganization and stipends. By way of a signed Sunday, August 25, agreement between the school district and Teachers Association stipends to be delivered. One of the now paid individuals as of August 27 is Jason Hancock, who would show up after being notified on September 3 during the Dorr hearing to come testify the same day.
This is like watching a D-list version of “Goodfellas.” Everything is in plain sight. Still here.
