Dorothy Jean Goldfarb
Dorothy Jean Goldfarb, known as “Dottie,” a longtime resident of East Hampton, died on Saturday, March 30, in New York City after a short battle with a rare cancer. She was 81.
Dorothy was born on November 26, 1931, to Margaret S. Johnston and was raised in Lonaconing, Maryland. While a nurse at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, she met Dr. Morton Goldfarb and they were married on November 14, 1953. Dottie was a tireless volunteer for World ORT, a Jewish educational training organization, where she was an active board member for many years. In her later years, she volunteered for Long House Reserve in East Hampton. She was an avid tennis player, member of several local book clubs and loved traveling with her husband. Most of all, survivors said she was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Ms. Goldfarb is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Morton Goldfarb; four children, Dr. Steven Goldfarb and his wife Marilyn, Dr. David Goldfarb and his wife Beth, Susan Ross and her husband Matthew, and Dr. Amy Goldfarb and her partner Lisa Futato; and eight grandchildren Maggie, Sara, Jacob, Adam and Rebecca Goldfarb and Melissa, Henry and Thomas Ross.
A brief memorial service was held on April 2 at Zion Memorial Chapel in Mamaroneck.
