Drawdown East End, the local chapter of the Project Drawdown research organization and movement to combat climate change, is putting on a series of events beginning in March on reducing food waste. Project Drawdown cites reducing food waste, both on the preconsumer and consumer ends, as the No. 3 solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin introduced a bipartisan resolution to commemorate 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz this week. The resolution is co-sponsored by two Democrats, Grace Meng of New York and Ted Deutch of Florida. East Hampton Town will host an informational forum on the “Driver’s Licenses For All” statute that recently went into effect in New York State, allowing residents to apply for a state-issued driver’s license regardless of immigration status or documentation. Residents of Freetown and descendants of former residents of the area are invited to participate in an oral history workshop on Saturday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in East Hampton. The workshop is being offered through the Mapping Memories of Freetown project, which began in 2016 to bring people together to remember and record their memories of Freetown.
