Aircraft Lands at East Hampton Airport Without Landing Gear Engaged

An aircraft piloted by Curtis Doupe was forced to land at East Hampton Airport without its landing gear at around 8 p.m. on Sunday. There were no passengers aboard, and the pilot was not injured. East Hampton Town Police and the East Hampton Fire Department responded to the scene, and the airport closed down, town spokesman Patrick Derenze said in a press release. AMAGANSETT — Tyler P. Shaw, 28, of Amagansett was arrested by East Hampton Town Police after a traffic stop on Montauk Highway on Friday night. Police said Shaw was driving a Chevrolet Malibu erratically and appeared intoxicated to the officer who made the traffic stop, then failed roadside sobriety tests.
