The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls indoor track team had a very successful winter season and led the list on postseason honorees.
Leslie Samuel and Ryleigh O’Donnell were both All-County in the long jump and 600-meter run, respectively. Samuel, a Bridgehampton student-athlete, was also All-League in the long jump and 300- and 55-meter dashes. O’Donnell was also All-League in the 4x400-meter relay along with Dylan Cashin, Melina Sarlo and Meredith Spolarich. Cashin was also All-League in the 1,500- and 3,000-meter races. Sarlo was also All-League in the shot put, and Spolarich, a Pierson student-athlete who was also Academic All-County, was All-League in the high jump. Clio McCarty was also All-League in the high jump. Samuel was given the team’s MVP Award, Sarlo was given the team’s Most Improved Player Award and Spolarich was given the Coaches Award.
The East Hampton/Pierson boys swim team finished fourth in League II with a 3-3 record, 5-4 overall, and had a number of student-athletes earn All-League honors at the League II Championships. The 200-yard medley relay team of Nicky Badilla, Rock Hamada, Tenzin Tamang and Owen Robins, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tamang, Liam Knight, Luke Tarbet and Emmet McCormac and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Badilla, Robins, Tarbet and Knight were each All-League. Tamang was All-League individually in the 100-yard butterfly, Knight was All-League in the 100-yard freestyle and Badilla, a Pierson student-athlete, was All-League in the 100-yard backstroke.
The East Hampton boys basketball team had one of its best seasons in recent memory when it finished with a 13-2 Division IV record, was 15-5 overall and shared the division title with Mount Sinai. That success led to the Bonackers being seeded second in the Class A county playoffs and playing a home playoff game for the first time in quite a while, but they lost that game to Amityville.
Luke Reese was named All-County for his efforts throughout the season while Jack Dickinson was named All-County and Liam Fowkes was All-League. Dan White was named Conference Coach of the Year.
Claire McGovern earned All-League honors while playing for East Hampton’s girls basketball team. Chloe Swickard was given the team’s Unsung Hero Award and she was All-Academic. Kaili Moore earned Rookie of the Year accolades. The girls were also a Scholar-Athlete team.
Luke Castillo (138 pounds) and Anthony Petersohn (110) each placed fourth at the League IV Championships to earn All-League wrestling honors and advance to the county meet this past winter.
