The East Hampton Little League Board of Directors has cancelled the 2020 league season due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, officials said in an email sent out on Thursday.

According to the email, the league’s board met several times before coming to the “difficult decision” to cancel the season.

“With the current COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of what the next few months will bring, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Little League Season,” the mail said. “Our first priority is the health and safety of all of our EHLL players and families and we feel this is the best course of action.”

All registration fees will be refunded, the officials noted, and the league opened a Venmo account to expedite the refunds. For those without Vemno accounts, checks can be sent out to families.

The league is also discussing forming a fall season, that would start in September and run through October.

“We are trying to find a way to get the kids involved in the game they were all so excited to play this spring,” the email reads.

An online survey has been formulated to gauge interest in a fall league.

“These responses are important as it will dictate how we proceed moving forward, so please take the time to fill it out,” the email reads.
