East Hampton Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash Wednesday Evening

An East Hampton man was killed on Wednesday evening after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a tree.

East Hampton Town Police identified the victim of the crash as Jefferson D. Eames, 53.

Eames was riding his 2011 Yamaha motorcycle north on Accabonac Road just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, when, police say, he appears to have lost control and veered off the roadway near the intersection with Banks Court. The motorcyclist struck a tree on the side of the road, suffering severe injuries.

He was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital by East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are asking that anyone who may have information about the crash call detectives at 631-537-7575.
