A wind farm in Europe built by Orsted is arranged in a grid pattern. Fishermen have said that arranging the turbines this way makes navigating through them more predictable. But they have also asked for a 4-mile wide transit lane trough the wind lease areas south of New England and arranging the turbines has raised concerns about damage to critical underwater habitat.
The steel foundations of offshore wind turbines can create good habitat for fish in an area without complex bottom structure. But fishermen worry that they could also cause immense harm if placed in areas that are already good fish habitat conditions. Capt. Daniel Giunta
