East Hampton Town officials have named Jake Turner as the new town attorney, following the departure of Rob Connelly, in one of three recent appointments for the legal office.

Outside Turner, Brittany Toledano was appointed as deputy town attorney, and Charlie Collins was promoted to senior assistant town attorney.

Turner’s hire came internally, as he joined the town attorney’s office in 2024 as the senior assistant town attorney and lead prosecutor. Prior to that, he focused on municipal law, land use, litigation and legal operations within local government.

In the past, Turner worked with two private firms. Before that, he worked in a municipal capacity as an assistant town attorney in Huntington, and he prosecuted white collar and violent crimes with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Toledano will join East Hampton Town directly from the Suffolk County district attorney’s office, where she served as principal assistant county attorney and labor relations investigator.

While there, she worked with environmental issues, particularly pertaining to the State Environmental Quality Review Act, and she served as legal counsel to the Suffolk County Planning Commission.

Collins was hired as an assistant town attorney in early 2024. Since then, he has advised the Planning Department, Building Department, Planning Board, Architectural Review Board, Emergency Preparedness Committee and the tax assessor’s office and the tax receiver’s office. Prior to that, he worked in private practice in East Hampton.

Turner holds a law degree from New York Law School, Toledano from St. John’s University School of Law and Collins from Boston College.

Turner will begin on April 28, Toledano will start on or before May 19, and Collins’s promotion will go into effect on April 28.

Suffolk County is searching for a solution to the chronic overflow of cars at Meschutt Beach County Park during the summer season. On sunny summer days, the throng of beachgoers that flow to the only bayfront county-run bathing beach on the South Fork quickly fill the beach parking lot.
