The East Hampton Town Board on Thursday, January 21, approved the granting of a package of easements that will allow wind farm developer Ørsted to bury the power cable from the South Fork Wind Farm beneath town-owned roadways in Wainscott. The board voted 4-1 in favor of approving the easements — after a testy final debate at the board’s meeting on Thursday — as well as a “host community agreement” with the wind farm developer that guarantees the town payments of nearly $29 million over the next 28 years.
