The East Hampton Town Trustees want a study of fish stocks in the region to start immediately to get two years of baseline sampling before construction begins on the South Fork Wind Farm in 2023 so that the impacts of the wind farm on fish migrations can be tracked.

Surface water samples from Kellis Pond in Bridgehampton, Mill Creek in Water Mill and Old Town Pond in Southampton taken by SUNY Stony Brook water monitors were found to contain blue-green algae blooms, Suffolk County reported. Harmful algal blooms were also detected in Wainscott Pond in Wainscott and in Lake Agawam in Southampton Village in late September, though blooms in those water bodies have been an issue for months, with tests approximately weekly yielding the same results.
