The Suffolk County Police Department released surveillance camera images of the suspect in a home invasion and robbery that happened at a Springs residence on Monday afternoon.
East Hampton Town Police are investigating a burglary and home invasion at an Old Stone Highway residence in Springs at around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, and are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the perpetrator who injured a woman during the incident.
According to police, a man entered the residence and grabbed an elderly woman around the neck and pushed her to the ground. She was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect stole cash and fled, and was last seen at a market on Springs-Fireplace Road. He was wearing a medical mask under his chin and a backpack with an Adidas symbol. Investigators believe he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt during the burglary and carrying it following the incident. It was not clear if a weapon was used.
East Hampton Police officers and a Southampton Village K-9 unit conducted an extensive search of the area, including by drone.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. All messages will be kept confidential.
East Hampton Town Detectives are investigating the incident and have requested that anyone with information contact them at 631-537-7575. Those calls will be kept confidential, police said.
