Felicia M. Hogan
Felicia M. Hogan of East Hampton died at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton on Sunday, December 4. She was 75.
Born On April 7, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey, to Dr. George Anthony Maggio and Theresa Bernardine Wurst, she graduated from Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington, D.C. in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education.
Ms. Hogan went on to teach special eduction classes in Elizabeth, New Jersey, public schools for 15 years. She and her husband bought their house on Wireless Road in the Village of East Hampton in 1973 and moved there full-time after Mr. Hogan’s retirement in 1995.
Ms. Hogan had been active at the Newark Museum for many years as head of the docent program. In East Hampton, she had been a member of Devon Yacht Club and was an active member of the Ladies Village Improvement Society, Friends of Guild Hall and the Long House Reserve. She was also Eucharistic minister at the Most Holy Trinity Church.
She was known for her optimism and enjoyment of life for which she found expression in cooking, considered exceptional by many, and her love of company. She will be remembered best for visiting friends and the Ladies Village Improvement Society with her companion, Brady, a bassett hound, for which the rule “No Dogs Allowed” did not apply.
She is survived by her son, Justin Hogan of Washington, D.C.; siblings, Marie T. Hoffman of New Mexico and George Anthony Maggio of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. P. Hogan.
A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 8, at the Most Holy Trinity Church. Interment followed at Most Holy Trinity cemetery with Brady at the graveside.
