Fire fighters from the Montauk, Amagansett and East Hampton fire departments battled a blaze at Gosman's Dock in Montauk Friday night that left damage to the exterior of the building. The fire started on the outside of the northern part of the building at about 8:45 p.m., mostly damaging the restaurant's porch area and an overhang, Montauk Fire Department Chief Joe Lenahan said. The inside of the restaurant sustained smoke damage as well.Chief Lenahan said about 100 fire fighters extinguished the blaze in about 35 minutes. Three ambulances, along with 35 EMTs and paramedics from the Montauk Fire Department's ambulance squad, also responded to the scene at West Lake Drive, although no injuries were reported, the chief said. The East Hampton Town fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.Chief Lenahan said that while there is a substantial amount of damage to the northern part of the restaurant—which also happens to be the oldest part—it isn't anything that cannot be repaired in time for next season.“It’s not totally ruined. They’ll be open in the springtime," he said.
