Florida Man Killed After Being Struck By SUV By Cafe Max In East Hampton Wednesday Night

A 72-year-old man died after being hit by an SUV in front of Café Max on Montauk Highway in East Hampton on November 9.Harry Greenfield of Lighthouse, Florida, was walking on the shoulder of the roadway in front of the restaurant at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to East Hampton Village Police. Jose Cifuentes-Monzon, 32, of East Hampton told police he was driving his 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and struck Mr. Greenfield. East Hampton Village Ambulance transported Mr. Greenfield to Southampton Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.Mr. Cifuentes-Monzon was charged with operating without a driver’s license and improper lane usage. The Jeep was impounded for a safety check, police said. No further charges are expected.

East Hampton Town Police are investigating an accident that occurred on Edgemere Street in Montauk on Tuesday morning that seriously injured an e-bike rider.
