Flying High

Bringing communities together to experience this beautiful place we call home, and having fun with friends and family, was a tremendous success over Memorial Day weekend at Main Beach in East Hampton Village. Thanks to the annual support from Mayor Jerry Larsen, who lets us take over a major part of the beach for several hours on Memorial Day weekend, and designates a special area for parking for free, the turnout for the third year of our event was awesome.

Special shout out to our underwriting sponsor and Popsicle supplier, The Agency Realtors, and to the many joyful volunteers from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, East Hampton High School students, Book Time volunteers, and our board of directors.

Many happy children, young and old, along with their friends and families, constructed, decorated and challenged each other to launch their kites on a sunny, intensely breezy afternoon. The atmosphere of participation and accomplishment overshadowed any doubts about a successful launch.

Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center is invested in our larger communities and the community of children we serve. “Kites for Kids” is an excellent example of the power of working and playing together for access to affordable child care and education.
