About three weeks ago, the president stated that the U.S. has “recovered all the jobs lost during the pandemic.” This was also the claim in September 2022.
The question remains, if we actually recovered jobs, created jobs, jobs lost, individuals who are not looking, retired, remain unemployed or just went back to the job the pandemic took.
The labor statistics actually, for how in depth they are, seem to lack all those findings. If the current president has a 13 million total, the one before you “recovered” five million but allegedly actually lost over 20 million. Common core math for the win. Until next September.
Still here.

A friend alerted me to an “inane” letter by Thomas Jones in response to my October 23 opinion piece [“The Palestinians Are Not Going Anywhere,” Viewpoint], so I found it and read it. Inane, indeed. First off, Mr. Jones, I...

Over the years, environmentalism has become symbolic of environmental protection, environmental science, environmental activism, environmental advocacy and environmental justice. We often use words like “conservation” and “preservation” when discussing protecting the environment. Commonly used interchangeably, many think of these words...
Better than it used to be, there are more people who appreciate wildlife for its own sake and not something that we can use. There are more people who believe that animals have a right to exist independent of what...
A state advisory commission has introduced a proposal to reduce the role of Regents exams, calling for a testing change to overhaul the state standards for high school graduation. This is troubling, to say the least, as this will ultimately...
Shame and disgrace on the Republican-led House of Representatives on its recent refusal to provide funding for military support to Ukraine. They must be reminded of a few inconvenient — for them — truths: The Republican Party could always depend...
