Pierson High School 2024 graduate Helena Aurora Kolhoff of Sag Harbor was recently awarded The William and Mary Mulvihill Environmental Scholarship. The award was presented to Kolhoff by Mary Ann Mulvihill-Decker, daughter of William and Mary, at the recent annual South Fork Natural History Museum Kolhoff will be attending the University of Connecticut this fall, majoring in environmental engineering. The Mulvihill family has sponsored a scholarship since 2012, when it was created by Dolores Mulvihill Zebrowski. The Hope for Depression Research Foundation will hold its ninth annual Race of Hope to Defeat Depression on Sunday, August 4, in Southampton Village. East Hampton Lions Hosting a Dog Show

The East Hampton Lions Club will hold its sixth annual Hamptons Dog Show on Saturday, August 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Amagansett American Legion Hall. The Hampton Ballet Theatre School will be performing “Peter and the Wolf,” a collaboration between the Hampton Ballet Theatre School, the Hampton Festival Orchestra and narrator Keith Cornelius. High Impact Community Outreach Program Awards Grants to Local Nonprofits

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Fork continues to assist local nonprofits make a difference through its High Impact Community Outreach program, which recently awarded seven organizations grants of over $50,000 for 2024. As noted in a press release, each of the 20 proposals received had merit and showcased the creativity and dedication of those involved. Produce bags, grocery store bags, bubble wrap, plastic shipping envelopes, newspaper sleeves, bread bags, ice bags, Ziploc bags, dry cleaning bags may be dropped off at the Montauk Library to help its effort to win a new bench. Normally, what are called “plastic film” products cannot be recycled because they might catch in sorting machines or become contaminated during transit. However, a company called Trex makes use of plastic film packaging by turning it into composite decks and outdoor railings.
