The Hampton Lifeguard Association will host its second annual run-swim-run event on Friday, July 14, at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett. The full race (half-mile) start will be at 6 p.m., with a mini race (quarter-mile) start at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $35 per competitor, or $75 for a three-person relay team.
Registration will take place at Atlantic Beach starting at 9 a.m. on race day. All proceeds will support lifeguards traveling to the United States Lifesaving Association national lifeguard competition, which is being held in Virginia Beach this year.
The mission of the Hampton Lifeguard Association is to waterproof Long Island’s South Fork and beyond through education and training. In order to promote the safe use and enjoyment of many water resources in all communities, HLA provides assistance and participation in water safety programs and lifeguard activities that maintain the well-being for its members and the surrounding communities. In addition, HLA upholds a high standard of lifeguarding through training and lifeguard competitions for all age group programs. The nonprofit HLA is a 501(c)(3) formed in 1992. HLA is a charter member of the United States Lifesaving Association. USLA is a nonprofit professional association of beach lifeguards and open water rescuers that sets national standards for lifesaving.
