Lawrence B. Knapp
Lawrence B. Knapp of Jupiter, Florida, formerly of Sag Harbor, died on Friday, April 20, in Florida. He was 82.
Born in 1929 in York, Pennsylvania, Mr. Knapp moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey, and later to Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. He graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1947. He began his career with the Berkshire Life Insurance Company and later formed the Knapp Insurance Agency in Ridgewood, which he owned and operated until retiring to Jupiter in 1991.
According to survivors, Mr. Knapp always had a smile on his face and easily put smiles on the faces of others with his quick wit and charm. He will be missed by his family and friends, survivors said.
He is survived by his wife Betty Woods Knapp; three children, Mary Knapp-Staunton of Virginia and formerly of Sag Harbor, Nancy Klavis and her husband Leroy of Water Mill, and Randy Knapp and his wife Tracie of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Shannon, Samantha and Kate Knapp, all of Ohio. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Knapp of New Jersey; two nephews, Christopher Knapp of California and Paul Knapp of New Jersey; and his former wife Suzanne Hall Knapp of Sag Harbor.
He was predeceased by his brother, David Knapp.
A wake will be held on Friday, May 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff, New Jersey. A private burial for family only will take place on Saturday, May 5, at the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood.
