Leonilda Lucia Mattana Tartaglia, a resident of East Hampton for 30 years, died on Saturday, July 25, at Southampton Hospital. She was 103.
Born December 13, 1905, in Italy to Joseph Mattana and Marina (née Pensetti) Mattana, she attended Williamsburg High School in Brooklyn and was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Francis Tartaglia of Florida; a daughter, Rita Jean Tartaglia of New York; two grandsons, U.S. Army retiree Francis B. Tartaglia and his wife Janet of North Carolina, and Stephen J. Tartaglia and his wife Amy of Massachusetts; and a granddaughter, Lori J. Tartaglia, a music teacher in North Carolina.
She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, James F. Tartaglia, Christopher M. Tartaglia, Jeannette K. Tartaglia, Matthew A. Tartaglia, Leanilda G. Tartaglia, and Rebecca A. Tartaglia.
In addition to her husband, Francis James Tartaglia, she was predeceased by a sister, Ercelia Mattana Santomenna.
Funeral services were held on July 28 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A funeral mass was held on July 29 at the Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton.
