Another strong season came to an end for the East Hampton boys tennis team last week, with a 5-2 loss to Harborfields in the Suffolk County Team Tournament.Going into the match, East Hampton head coach Kevin McConville knew his team would need to not only sweep the doubles matches, but also steal a point in singles—a tough task considering Harborfields, seeded third, has a notoriously formidable singles lineup. There were no major surprises or upsets for the East Hampton boys tennis team at the Suffolk County Individual Tournament at Half Hollow Hills West High School over the weekend.The Bonac players representing their team on Friday and Saturday finished around where their seedings predicted they would, with senior singles player Jonny DeGroot advancing to the quarterfinals before being eliminated, while senior Ravi MacGurn and freshman Luke Louchheim both lost in the first round. The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls tennis team’s season came to a close after its 6-1 loss at Westhampton Beach in the quarterfinals of the Section XI Team Tournament on Saturday.The seventh-seeded Lady Bonackers, who received a first-round bye, defeated No. 10 William Floyd, 6-1, at home on Friday to reach the match on Saturday against the second-seeded Lady Hurricanes. Becca Kuperschmid, Juliana Barahona and Caroline Micallif each won their first, second and third singles matches, respectively. Eva Nojtvsiak and Kaylee Mendelman won at second doubles and Annelise Mendelman and Sammi Schurr won at third doubles.Additional information was not provided.
