Manuel J. Cunha, a resident of Sag Harbor for 25 years, died at Southampton Hospital on Friday, July 24. He was 78.
Born May 30, 1931, in East Hampton to Joseph Cunha and Angelina (née Corriea) Corwin, he graduated from East Hampton High School and was a foreman at the Suffolk County Water Authority.
Mr. Cunha is survived by his wife, Sandra (née Weatherell) Cunha; two sons, Manuel J. Cunha Jr. of East Hampton, and Anthony Cunha of Noyac; and six daughters, Rhonda Cunha of East Hampton, Cherryl Cunha of Caroga Lake, Sharon Adam of Sag Harbor, Lauren Schellinger of Sag Harbor, Robin Vacca of Florida and Debbie Merrill of Florida. He is also survived by a sister, Fanny Wells of East Hampton, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Stevenson.
Funeral services were held on July 29 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Interment followed at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
