Water Authority Says 3 a.m. Water Advisories Are Scam

The Suffolk County Water Authority sent out an advisory today that calls being received by East Hampton homeowners advising them not to drink their tap water did not originate from the water authority. “We have received several calls from homeowners in the East Hampton area regarding their receipt of emergency alerts on their cell phones advising them to ‘not drink the water after 3AM,’” a message from the water authority said. “Please be advised that these alerts did not originate from the SCWA and that as far as we can determine, this is a scam.” by Staff Writer
