A motorcycle passenger was left in critical condition after being tossed from the rear seat when the bike crashed on Friday night in Amagansett, according to East Hampton Town Police. The driver of the motorcycle was charged with DWI following the crash.
Robert Chase Plachy, 31, of Amagansett was driving a Honda motorcycle east on Bluff Road when he lost control of the bike. His passenger, Nicole Greenwood, 35, of California, was thrown from the bike during the crash, police said.
Greenwood was not wearing a helmet and “suffered serious physical injuries,” police said. She was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was in critical condition, over the weekend, according to police. No update on her condition has been made available.
Police charged Plachy, who had minor injuries, with DWI, a misdemeanor charge.
He was arraigned on Saturday morning in front of Justice Steven Tekulsky of the East Hampton Town Justice Court and was released on his own recognizance.
Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
