Hamptons Doc Fest education director Anita Boyer has announced the winners of its second annual “Hometown Heroes” documentary short film competition, where middle and high school students on the East End were invited to create a documentary short film honoring the local everyday heroes who have made a significant impact on their lives or their local community. Jackson Rohrer took first place, earning a $300 scholarship. The East Hampton High School’s Interact Club is will again hold its Big Brothers Big Sisters Clothing Drive, an annual effort supporting young people in need across Long Island. According to Michael Ponella, the Interact Club Advisor, one of the main goals of the drive is “to bring awareness to those in need of living essentials here on Long Island.” The drive is held during the Thanksgiving season to inspire gratitude and to encourage students to think about those who may be less fortunate.
