East Hampton Village elections for mayor and three seats on the Village Board will be held on June 19, and so far all four incumbents have thrown their hats into the ring. Anyone with an inclination to join them has until May 15 to file a nominating petition.
Mayor Paul F. Rickenbach Jr., Deputy Mayor Barbara Borsack, and Trustees Richard Lawler and Bruce A. Siska all intend to run on the Hook Mill Party slate to retain their seats, according to a press release the mayor handed out in April.
The mayor’s and the trustees’ terms last four years. Mr. Siska was appointed in October to replace Trustee David Brown who resigned in September after 18 years. The remaining two years of Mr. Brown’s original term will be filled in the June 19 election.
As of Tuesday, no one had filed an independent nominating petition to challenge any of the incumbents. Pam Bennett, the village’s deputy clerk, has blank forms at Village Hall for anyone who’d like to join the contest. Candidates can also prepare their own petitions. They must be signed by at least 50 voters and returned to Village Hall by the May 15 deadline.
