East Hampton High School students have been nominated for Teeny Awards, an award (like the Tony Awards) recognizing achievement in high school theater. Each award includes a trophy and a scholarship. Nominated for Supporting Actor in a Musical is Jack Hodgens, for “Beauty and the Beast. “ Outstanding Performance in a Comedy nominee is Kathryn Ryan, for “The Mouse That Roared.” Allison Charde and Thomas Van Scoyoc have both been nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for “Beauty and the Beast.”

Student Choreography nominations went to Lauren Fitzgerald, Marith McMahone and Maddie Virga, for “Beauty and the Beast.”

The nominees, their supporters and fans have been invited to the Red Carpet Ceremony held this year at Riverhead High School on Sunday, June 6, from 3 to 5 p.m., with the red carpet walk taking place at 2 p.m. The ceremony includes guest presenters from local theaters and performances by the nominees. The event will be open to the public for the first time ever. Tickets are available for $20 for adults and $15 for students at the East End Arts Council on Main Street in Riverhead, with all proceeds going to support the Teeny Awards. You can also buy tickets online at eastendarts.org.

Monday, June 8, “Equus,” starring Alec Baldwin and Sam Underwood, directed by Tony Walton, will open at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theatre. The show runs through July 3. On June 11, Guild Hall’s “Theater Season Opener Benefit Dinner” will take place starting at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by a light supper at 6 p.m. at the Clifford-Levy home in East Hampton. Benefactor tickets start at $650. Please call Guild Hall’s Special Events Department at 324-0806 for more information.

After a very successful fourth season, the East Hampton Farmers Market has returned. The market is held every Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, in the parking lot of Nick & Toni’s restaurant at 136 North Main Street.

The East Hampton Farmers Market features 22 East End farmers, fishermen and producers selling a wide range of products.

The market was started in June 2006 and is the inspiration of Nick and Toni’s head chef Joe Realmuto, long a devoted supporter of locally grown organic produce.

The East Hampton Day Care Learning Center will honor Eleanor Whitmore at its annual Spring Benefit on Saturday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Further Lane home of Dr. Judith Schneider and Norbert Weissberg.

Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres created by Art of Eating, and the musical stylings of the Julie Bluestone Group. Other event highlights include a silent auction offering trips to Jamaica and Panama.

Individual tickets for the benefit can be purchased for $175 each. Tickets are available online at easthamptondaycare.org, or at the East Hampton Day Care Learning Center on Gingerbread Lane in East Hampton.

For more information, please contact Karen O’Connell, East Hampton Day Care Learning Center’s director of development, at 324-5560, or info@easthamptondaycare.org.

On Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m., join the East Hampton Library for a screening of Francois Truffaut’s 1970 film “The Wild Child.” The film is based on the book by Dr. Jean Itard. Discussion will follow after the film. Sign up at the reference desk or call 324-0222 for more information.

The Chapel Choir from the 8,000-member Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will perform a concert of choral music at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons on Thursday, June 10, at 7 p.m. This concert will be a part of the ensemble’s 2010 Summer Tour. For more information, visit jcoh.org or contact Soozy Miller at office2@jcoh.org or call 324-9858.

It’s now official that Hampton Road Gallery in Southampton, which I have been director of since December 2009, is now called “Karyn Mannix Contemporary @ Hampton Road Gallery.” The gallery features 15 local emerging artists and the East Hampton artists who are represented are Steve Haweeli, Mary Laspia, Evan Zatti, Maria Pessino, Stephanie Reit and Athos Zacharias.
