Observations

In 2021, we had an array of bird deaths by Napeague Harbor. In fact, we, along with neighbors, had found from the end of summer into fall seven dead terns.

Questions were left unanswered at that time. It was eventually suggested without documentation or testing that we may have had a ground zero for avian flu.

In the last week, one owl, one osprey. It has been six weeks since I last saw any eagle fledgling.

With the rise of the flu again in the nation, it raises the question, since we are in turkey season. Fewer and fewer turkeys as of late. I just haven’t seen any hunters.

Still here.
