Ross School has announced that beginning this fall, the campus will be smartphone-free during the academic day across all grade levels. The policy, which already applies through grade eight and during class time in high school, will now extend throughout the full school day for high school students as well. The decision, unanimously supported by the Board of Trustees, reflects Ross’s mission to cultivate socially connected students while preparing them to find purpose in a rapidly changing world. “Ross is committed to helping students become present, connected, and confident in who they are becoming,” said Head of School Tom Sturtevant. ...

Earlier this week, Wayne Gauger stepped down as president of the Amagansett Board of Education and resigned from the board altogether. Vice President Addie Slater-Davison will take over as president until the board elects a new president at its organizational meeting in July 2026. Gauger’s resignation took immediate effect. Voters in the district had reelected Gauger to a new term in a contested race in May. Gauger kept his seat after finishing in second place with 148 votes. The Board of Education expressed its gratitude to Gauger for his contributions to the board and his devotion to the school community. ...
