East Hampton Renews Permit For Soil Samples Along Wind Farm Cable Route In Wainscott

The East Hampton Town Board last week gave Deepwater Wind permission to move forward with soil sampling along town roads in Wainscott that follow the company’s preferred route for its underground power cable. The town had approved a similar resolution last spring, but officials at Ørsted, the Danish energy company that owns Deepwater Wind, postponed the surveys, calling it a “gesture of good faith” to residents of Wainscott who had at the time just begun organizing to fight the plan for the cable landing in the hamlet.
