Students Show Support for Springs School Grad
The Springs School community came together to support a former student, Kayla Kearney, by making Friday, March 1, “Green Day” since green is Kearney’s favorite color.
Kearney had surgery in January to have a brain tumor removed, and unfortunately, many complications have occurred since then. To date, she has been in the hospital for more than 40 days.
The school community wanted to send a message of love and support by honoring Kearney.
Sixth-grader Britney Pesantez said, “Green Day is a special day to represent a former Springs School student who is going through a difficult time right now.”
Many students made cards for Kearney to read once she wakes up from her coma.
Sixth grade ELA teacher Danielle Hamilton said, “Seeing students and faculty wearing green was truly heartwarming. It makes me feel good that our school is coming together to support the Kearney family. Kayla is one of us.”
Springs School Assistant Principal Jessica Rodgers added, “It’s very special for a school community to come together to support one of our former students in need.”
The students, staff and faculty at The Nest are and will continue rooting for Kearney and her family.
