Scholastic Book Fair Returns to Springs School
Ah, the classic Book Fair! The big opportunity of the year for students to purchase the hottest new reading material available by Scholastic. Just imagine, the quest of happy children, purchasing their favorite titles, bursting with the joy of reading a brand new book, and benefiting from the joys of literature. Why watch TV when one can jump into the world of Kipling, Dickens, Rowling, Sharon Creech, and Roald Dahl? Well, Springs School students will be able to enjoy these wonderful experiences once again, as the beloved Book Fair returns to Springs School.
For those who do not know, the book fair is a twice-yearly event where Springs School students can purchase books to read for themselves and others, or purchase as gifts for family and friends. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Springs School PTA and fund the wonderful things they do for the school and its students. Additionally, the money will also go to bringing the Book Fair back to Springs School so that our students can continue to indulge in one of life’s biggest pleasures, the joy of reading a good book. And, It will teach them some fiscal responsibility while they are at it as well.
“The Book fair is one of my favorite times of the year,” said Shelby Cinelli, PTA member and mother of two. “It’s wonderful to see the look of excitement on the children’s faces as they see the book fair and buy books. If parents could see the look of pure joy on their faces, I’m sure they would want to volunteer here.”
When asked more about how the students enjoyed it, Cinelli stated that, “Since they are often told what to learn and do in school, the book fair lets them be their true selves, picking their own reads. It also enables them to expand their vocabulary, and their home libraries. We also have a large and diverse section of books in Spanish.”
We at the Nest hope that the Book Fair continues for many more years and raises more money for our wonderful PTA so that they can do even more for our school, community and students.
