Ruth E. White
Ruth Elizabeth White of East Hampton, formerly of Water Mill, died at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson on Friday, December 2. She was 87.
Born March 24, 1924, in Inwood to Granville and Harriet Lamberson (née Marsden), she graduated from Lawrence High School in 1942. On January 29, 1949, she married Roger Fowler White.
Ms. White babysat and also took care of elderly people. She enjoyed gardening and watching birds.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Mapes and her husband Christopher of East Hampton, Edward White and his companion Donna Brunelle of Hampton Bays; grandchildren, Stephanie Myung and her husband James of California, Juliana White and her companion Clintonof Rush, and Melissa Mapes of East Hampton.
A funeral service was held on Monday, December 5, at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, followed by interment at Flying Point Cemetery in Water Mill. A gathering of friends and family took place afterwards at the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton.
