Sally Murphy Martin
Sally Murphy Martin of Montauk died at her home on Friday, December 16. She was 65.
Born February 15, 1946, in Huntington to Benjamin Murphy and Helen Murphy Wilbur (née Curtin), she graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School and attended Georgian Court University and C.W. Post at Long Island University. She went on to teach math at the South Huntington School District and later worked as a guidance counselor.
Ms. Martin was a past chapter president for the Philanthropic Educational Organization, and volunteered with St. Therese of Lisieux’s English as a second language program. She was also a very talented watercolor artist, an avid bridge player and sailor, family said.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; a son, Thomas B. Martin; her mother, Helen Wilbur of Connecticut; siblings, Neil Murphy of California and Brian Murphy of Mattituck; and three nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, December 20, at St. Therese of Lisieux in Montauk. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Yardley & Pino Funeral Home of East Hampton.
