Given the success of its Thanksgiving food drive, the East Hampton Rotary will hold a second food drive on Saturday, December 12, at the East Hampton IGA. Andrew Baris, vice president of the club, is spearheading the effort, which may expand to other local IGAs.
The food drive held the Saturday before Thanksgiving brought in 400 pounds of food and $3,100 in cash donations to benefit local food pantries. Volunteers were posted outside IGA supermarkets in Montauk, Amagansett, East Hampton and Sag Harbor to collect the food and cash donations. Rob Norrby, the club’s president, stated that given the urgent need for both funds and food at local panties, the Rotary decided to host a second food drive.
