Last Tuesday, the annual East Hampton school budget was overwhelmingly approved, and two incumbent School Board members each won another three-year term. Congratulations to John Ryan and Jackie Lowey for their victories.
I was a candidate but, due to an unusual year, I was not able to compete extensively. I wish to thank all of you who supported me with your vote. Perhaps I will try again next year.
There were a few concerns I would have addressed, had I been elected:
1. We need to discuss the idea of term limits. If you can’t meet your goals in three terms (nine years), why not give others a chance?
2. How robust is our adult education program? Having taught bridge for several years, but not recently, we need to find ways to give the program new life.

I attended both “No Kings” rallies in June and again last Saturday. The spirit of both were identical: We are a community of Americans, coming together, expressing ourselves in the most American of ways — by demonstrating and marching. Both...
Reading a letter from Thomas Jones [“Clarity Needed,” Letters, October 16] always reminds me of a statement from the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four.” The narrative is always adjusted so that every action taken by the current administration...
