State DEC Permits Next Phase of Ditch Plains Dune Restoration

The State Department of Environmental Conservation has permitted and authorized the East Hampton Town government to begin the next phase of its coastal restoration project at Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk. The work is a continuation of a June 2024 beach recovery project, which restored parts of Ditch Plains damaged by storms. In that phase, the town placed 5,800 cubic yards of sand to restore recreational use of the beach prior to summer. The DEC authorized the project under its Tidal Wetlands and Coastal Erosion Management programs.
