The Springs School District has announced the school year, which was turned on its head by the coronavirus, will officially end on June 18.

The decision was made by the school board and communicated to families on Wednesday.

The notice explained that when Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered schools closed and schools to implement distance learning programs in March to help combat the spread of the coronavirus, he also required that instruction be provided during spring vacation and on other days schools normally would be closed.

The district noted that its staff fulfilled that mandate, with the result that June 12 will be the last day of regular instruction. From June 13 to 18, students will have the opportunity to complete all incomplete assignments, including projects from their special area teachers. Middle school students will take finals for classes that are providing final assessments.

The district urged parents who have questions to contact teachers and administrators via email or by sending a note to the district’s general mailbox, March2020@springsschool.org .
