Emergency calls have gone up for the East Hampton Village Ambulance Association, and the association is looking for new members. “This is really the perfect time to join,” Ambulance Chief Lisa Charde said in a press release this week. Volunteers who sign up now and complete the paperwork process can start riding the ambulance immediately as attendants, before undergoing training as emergency medical technicians. Volunteering as an attendant gives one an advantage when taking the EMT course and provides a look that working on an ambulance involves, she said. An unfortunate chain of events combined to place two East Hampton duck hunters in jeopardy late on the afternoon of New Year’s Day.
