The East Hampton boys swim team broke into the win column this week in convincing fashion, beating North Babylon, 62-56, at home on January 13 and getting past Central Islip, 100-76, on the road on January 15.The Bonackers improved to 2-1 in League II, 2-3 overall.Max Tabasso was named Swimmer of the Meet by his East Hampton teammates in the win over North Babylon. East Hampton enjoyed an easy win in that one, as North Babylon, a squad that already has low numbers, was missing several swimmers due to illness.Tabasso, a Pierson freshman, earned recognition for making his competitive debut in the meet, swimming a 50-yard portion of the 200-yard freestyle relay for East Hampton’s ‘C’ team.East Hampton head coach Craig Brierley explained why Tabasso was chosen.“Max has been working very hard at practice, knowing he would not be given an opportunity to compete until he could complete a legal, 50 freestyle, with a flip turn,” Brierley said. “He did that in the meet and was a part of the ‘C’ relay team that finished in third place.”Several Bonackers recorded personal-best times in the meet, including: Christian Brierley (50 backstroke, 50 free, 100 breasstroke); Parker Fenelon (200 free, 100 back); Dylan Camacho (200 free); Henry Uihlein (200 individual medley, 50 free); Robert Anderson (50 free, 100 free); Tony Sanchez (50 free); Anthony Franzone (50 free); Claudio Figueroa (100 free); Harrison Kennedy (100 free); Andrew Wilson (100 free, 500 free); Thomas Treadwell (500 free); Noah Gualtieri (500 free); David Milia (50 free); Kevin Weiss (50 free); and Shane O’Dwyer (100 breaststroke).Against Central Islip, O’Dwyer earned Swimmer of the Meet honors, recognized for his continued improvement in the medley relay and the breaststroke events.Swimmers achieving personal-best times included: Robert Rewinski (200 free); Ryan Duryea (200 free); Uihlein (50 free); Nick Pucci (100 butterfly); Anderson (100 free); Chasen Dubs (100 free); Figueroa (100 free); Wilson (500 free); Fenelon (500 free); O’Dwyer (100 breaststroke); and Chris Kalbacher (100 breaststroke).East Hampton was scheduled to visit Huntington/Harborfields for a meet at Hauppauge High School on January 21, and will return there for a meet with Hauppauge on January 23 at 5 p.m. The Bonackers will be back at home at the East Hampton YMCA on January 27 when they host West Islip at 5 p.m.
