A man who wanted drinks from the bar at the Springs Tavern was pushed out of the way by another man, he told East Hampton Town Police after the incident. He went on to get his drinks and was on his way back to his table when a second man pushed him. The first man who had pushed him then punched him and was joined by two other people. Security guards stepped in and the complainant left the bar with his girlfriend, according to a report filed at police headquarters after the incident, which took place at about 1 a.m. on February 15.
The complainant told police he wants to pursue charges against the four men. He was advised to seek medical attention for his injuries, which included a black eye, a cut on his head, a scratch on his neck and pain in the upper part of his nose.
In a separate matter, a security guard and manager at the Tavern were cited late on February 28 and early on February 29, respectively, by East Hampton Town Police. Police charged Nicolas Ross, 24, of Riverhead with a misdemeanor count of not having a valid registration card to work as security guard at about 11:30 p.m., and Donovan A. McGregor, 44, of Mastic with the same count, for employing him, shortly after midnight the following day. Mr. McGregor was also charged with a misdemeanor count of “unlicensed warehouse liquor storage.” Police said he stored alcoholic beverages in a detached refrigerated storage container on the property in violation of state alcoholic beverage control law.
