Hamptons Doc Fest education director Anita Boyer has announced the winners of its second annual “Hometown Heroes” documentary short film competition, where middle and high school students on the East End were invited to create a documentary short film honoring the local everyday heroes who have made a significant impact on their lives or their local community. The first in a new annual series of guided seal observation hikes at Montauk State Park kicks off this weekend, with programs running through April 2026. Led by a State Park naturalist, the two-hour educational hikes give visitors the chance to explore Montauk’s scenic shoreline while observing as many as five species of wintering seals off Long Island’s easternmost point.
