Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine on Friday released his $4.3 billion recommended operating budget for 2026, a spending plan that he said protects core services while investing in public safety, environmental protection and support for families. The proposal, which complies with New York State’s property tax cap, outlines priorities ranging from expanded police staffing to new water quality programs funded by a voter-approved sales tax surcharge.
