The developers of the Peconic Jitney, a passenger-only ferry service that would connect Sag Harbor and Greenport on a seasonal basis, have withdrawn their plans, at least for the time being. Jim Ryan, who appeared before the Sag Harbor Village Board to pitch the ferry proposal last month, said the company, a spinoff of the Hampton Jitney bus company, was withdrawing its request to dock at Long Wharf this year “due to the fact that an appropriate vessel could not be sourced” in time for a late spring debut. Change is afoot in East Hampton Village. For one, the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce has changed the advertised date of its upcoming spring festival — from May 16 to May 2 — in response to critiques at a meeting of the East Hampton Village Board on Thursday, March 5. For another, the Village Board plans to allow take-out stores like Mary’s Marvelous and Juice Press to have as many as 16 tables for their customers, inside or outside, without wait staff and subject to Health Department regulations.
