The Ladies Village Improvement Society of East Hampton extends many thanks to the generosity of our wonderful East End community.
Our 130-year-old organization could not have had yet another successful LVIS Fair on June 14 were it not for the many hands that helped pull off the event: hardworking employees of the Village of East Hampton, school volunteers from the high school’s Key Club, middle school community service students and kids from the DoGoodBeGood club, our very generous donors, Phoenix House, and the many dedicated volunteers and members of the LVIS. Thank you, all.
Great accomplishments are always accomplished by the work of consistently committed people. You know the old saying: “If you want something done, ask a busy person.” Indeed true, as is the saying “It takes a village.” In fact, it takes a whole wonderful town.
Thanks, too, East Hampton Press, for your fine coverage.
Happy summer, all.
Joyce Tuttle

It’s good to see that my children are learning about conflict resolution at school. Good to know it says “fair” and “unfair.” Examples such as saying, “I’m sorry,” “talk about it” and “make a compromise” under “fair.” “Unfair” has the...
It appears as if Donald Trump has found yet another outlet for his need for power: our military. After unending praise and encouragement from Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump decided to attack Iran, using our incredible military force. Trump loves to use...
I have some questions I would like to ask our congressman, Nick Lalota. I had hoped to ask these questions in person, but the congressman seems to be a bit shy when it comes to meeting his constituents. So I...
John Neely, this is not our first rodeo [“Improvement?” Letters, June 12]. We see things differently, and we are not alone. I realize Democrats are very upset that the political winds have deserted them. If anything has been learned over...
Waste, fraud and abuse, right? That’s what Republicans in Washington, D.C., claim to be hunting down and eliminating. Even after Elon Musk’s unceremonious departure, his many successors are flying the same flag, singing the same hymn — that they’re after...
The Town of East Hampton looks to make a very specific change to Town Code 182. Muddled into the changes up and down the code, which is about nature preserves, is a word I’d never seen: sale. Yes, the town...
June 14 was Flag Day, and a nationwide No Kings Day of Defiance, in which millions participated in more than 2,100 marches and rallies across the country in support of democracy, the rule of law, due process and freedom of...
In following The Press’s continuing coverage of the Shinnecock, there seems to be a trend wherein the newspaper has become an apologist for the tribe. According to your recent stories, they are always, seemingly, fighting against the inhumanities perpetrated by...
