On Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 5:30 pm, the Montauk Library will present a directed reading of Edward Albee’s Seascape. Produced by Josh Gladstone and directed by Paul Hecht, the cast includes Gerald Doyle, Susan Stout, Max Samuels and Quinn Jackson. In Seascape, a couple approaching retirement are at the beach discussing their concerns when another couple appears: two human-sized lizards who no longer feel at home in the sea. Like other Albee plays such as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and A Delicate Balance, Seascape focuses on the dynamic of interpersonal communications while including elements of comedy, fantasy, satire and absurdism.
The reading of SEASCAPE is the last of the four plays that the Montauk Library is presenting in 2023 as part of the SUMMERTIME Series, curated by Carolyn Balducci, Adult Programs Director.
The Summertime Series of Directed Readings is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc.
Edward Albee’s SEASCAPE is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. (www.dramatists.com)
