Anahi DeCanio – Just Abstracts Solo Exhibition
CLOSING WEEKEND!
The Lucore Art Gallery in Montauk presents a solo exhibition of abstract works by award winning artist Anahi DeCanio. Anahi has been a long-time participant of art exhibitions on the East End, most recently at Hans van de Bovenkamp Studio Gallery in Sagaponack.
Ms. DeCanio’s work has won multiple awards and has been included in museum and gallery shows, including the Boca Raton Museum of Art, The National Steinbeck Center and Museum, Brown University, Pen and Brush, and the Palm Beach Armory as well as being selected as the featured artist for the White House Fellows Conference and a solo exhibition at the Consulate General of Uruguay in New York city.
Her multi layered mixed media work is inspired by both nature and urban settings so the collection is eclectic in substance and color palette. Every brushstroke, color, mark, or scratch as symbols of the marks left behind by life events and the passage of time. She explores this by applying countless layers – some hidden, some subtly revealing themselves until the final image surfaces. The results are richly textured surfaces exploding with saturated color and touches of gilding telling vivid visual stories.
Her work has been featured in several notable local and national publications including The New York Times, Robb Report, Time Magazine and has been part of sets in motion picture productions for film and television.
