Join us for an exclusive artist talk featuring Daesha Devón Harris, where you can discover the captivating stories behind her artwork in the Southampton History Museum's current exhibition, Reclamation. Curated by Shinnecock artist and lead artist of Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio, Inc., Jeremy Dennis, the exhibit Reclamation delves into ways in which artists engage with the act of reclaiming—whether physical space, historical narratives, personal/family stories, or cultural identity and representation.
Daesha Devón Harris is an interdisciplinary visual artist who explores narrative, history, the politics of place, and the African Diaspora through photography, mixed media, text, and video. Her advocacy and artwork are deeply influenced by the gentrification of her hometown, Saratoga Springs, New York, and its impact on the local Black community.
This program is proudly co-sponsored with Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio.
